I’m so tired she said
and he agreed
but what he didn’t understand
was the tiredness of which she spoke
was not for want of sleep

Note from the author:

This poem is about anxiety, depression and just the feeling of being completely overwhelmed and not knowing what to do about it. In that downward spiral the walls feel like they’re caving in on you and you’re trying your best to stay afloat but you can’t even quite pin point what is making you feel this way. Because of this you just get more and more worn out. And that feeling of exhaustion is what this short piece is all about. When in that state it never feels like anyone understands what you’re going through. You say you’re tired or you don’t feel well and people naturally take that at surface value and yet there’s so much more behind those words.
